Sherri Griggs

President

A native of Mississippi, Sherri Griggs graduated with a Science degree in Medical Records and brings years of experience to the organization ranging from records management, successful fundraising campaigns for local charities, and animal welfare.  She has a diverse background in areas that include law enforcement, the hospitality industry, the arts, and historical reenacting.  She is an advocate for Humane Education and earned certification in 2009 as a Humane Education Specialist through Humane Society University, an affiliate of the Humane Society of the United States.  Prior to joining Partnering for Pets in 2008, Griggs volunteered for many years with a local rescue group taking care of and fostering cats, office duties and fundraising.  She functions as the Director of Cat Operations and operates out of the PetSmart center in Broken Arrow.

Sherri and her husband, Bill, are frequent sponsors of local organizations including the Tulsa Boys’ Home, where Bill serves on the board of directors, the Tulsa Zoo, Oklahoma Alliance for Animals, Street Cats, Meals on Wheels and other charity groups.  She is a member of Hula Halau o Leilani and loves the spirit of hula and Hawaiian music.  She enjoys spending time with Bill, watching the horse races, and loving her rescued kitties Nemo and Gary.

Richard Hoar

Vice President

Richard’s appreciation and love of animals started at a young age through his father’s work in the Wildlife Management field. He is a BA graduate of the University of Tulsa and also served in the Army National Guard before marrying his wife, Kami, who he says holds a “special place in her heart for cats”, and his daughter also has a passion for animals. His current job involves him in the world of emerging technologies and he is skilled in networking and computers. He has a number of hobbies and interests, but is excited to join Partnering for Pets to help animals in need. Richard is the proud pet parent of kitties Mowgli, Winifred “Winnie”, Little Buddy, and Big Buddy, and one dog named Penny (the Poodle).

Bill Griggs

Board Member

Bill Griggs has a solid foundation in marketing and negotiating skills as well as energy, commitment and support for the organization. Bill served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, attended college and thereafter began a 40+ year career with a Fortune 100 company where he is currently employed as a Senior Manager responsible for a global business line. He is no stranger to animal welfare serving as President of the Humane Society of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, Arkansas in the past. After moving to Tulsa, he has provided leadership as a past President of the Scottish Club of Tulsa and currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the Tulsa Boys’ Home and serves on the Executive Committee. When not working, he is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time on many of the great courses in the area. Though he has had many animals throughout his life, he currently has two adoring feline boys, Gary and Nemo.

Anne Karn, DVM

Retired

Dr. Anne Karn grew up here in Green Country and most of her childhood memories involve either a horse, cat or dog.  After teaching high school English for 10 years, she pursued a career involving her love of animals and graduated from the OSU Veterinarian Medical School in 2000.  She currently works part time in private practice and is serving her fifth year as veterinarian with the Owasso Animal Shelter.

Anne and her husband of 25 years, Kip, are longtime philanthropists in the area donating to many charitable organizations.  It’s no surprise that they live on acreage with plenty of horses, dogs, cats, and one burro.  Dr. Karn volunteers her services to help the animals at Tulsa Animal Welfare as time allows as well as vetting pets for adoption with Partnering for Pets.  When not working or volunteering, her favorite pastimes include reading (she says life would be unbearable without her Kindle), spending time with her husband and animals, and going to the horse races!
